Emergency Communications

The ability to provide communications during an emergency is the hallmark of the Amateur Radio Service. We get to experiment with extremely valuable spectrum spaces. In return, we are asked to provide emergency communications when needed. In my opinion, the ability and willingness to provide this service should be a high priority for ALL hams. Will it be a priority for you?

To my knowledge, there at least four distinct groups you can become affiliated with to help provide emergency communications:
ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service)
MARS (The Military Affiliate Radio System)
RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service)
SATERN (Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network)

Here are some links, and other info, to help you get hooked up. If your group would like your contact information listed here, please contact me.
