Shhh...Listen

Before you grab your new tranceiver and start jumping into the midst of conversations, I encourage you to take the time to LISTEN! Listen to how others communicate...the good and the bad.

A great place to start your listening would be one (or more) of the weekly nets. How we communicate during these nets is precisely how we communicate during an emergency, while storm-spotting, or working one of the charity events. Some can be more informal than others, but the procedure is the still same: all communications go through "net control." You can find an updated list of weekly nets at the MO-KAN Council of Amateur Radio Clubs.
