WEATHER

I must admit that I am very interested in meteorology. I like knowing the hows and whys of what's happening with the weather. Here are some great sites for you to visit. I've also put together a couple of radar pages, a weather software page, and finally a miscellaneous weather page.

There are many great sources of Kansas City weather information:

Obviously, the Kansas City/Pleasant Hill National Weather Service office is a great place to start. One of the best services they provide is NOAA Weather Radio. You can listen to the local KID77 online (provided by Overland Park Weather). Here are some local county SAME codes to program into your weather radio:
    Missouri: Kansas:
    Cass County - 029037 Douglas County - 020045
    Clay County - 029047 Johnson County - 020091
    Jackson County - 029095 Leavenworth County - 020103
    Johnson County - 029101 Miami County - 020121
    Lafayette County - 029107 Wyandotte County - 020209
    Platte County - 029165
    Ray County - 029177

While you're on the NWS site, check out their Area Forecast Discussion. The main purpose of the AFD is to explain the technical reasoning behind the forecast issued/about to be issued by NWS field personnel. Its primary audience is other NWS offices with a goal of enhancing coordination amongst forecast offices. The AFD is also released to the general public for informational purposes. It is not a substitute for the forecast.

Interactive NWS - Interactive NWS (iNWS) is the home of new mobile and desktop innovations of the National Weather Service. At this time, iNWS is considered an experimental service. Feel free to use iNWS, but there is no guarantee of service availability or customer support.
